Be a part of PROJECT PLASTIC 2018

Have you worked on an interesting project about plastics as part of your engineering degree – or are you about to? Then you have the opportunity to win PROJECT PLASTIC 2018.

PROJECT PLASTIC is a talent competition for engineering students. The purpose is to celebrate the talented students that as part of their degree lead the way in how to use plastic materials to create innovative solutions.

The competition is being administrated by The Danish Plastics Federation that also runs the Bliv plastingeniør-campaign.

How to win

You can participate in the competition by signing up with an assignment or project you have made as part of your engineering degree. Assignments and projects within the fields of production, innovation, design, chemistry, sustainability and many other fields are welcome, as long as the main objective is plastics. You can participate as both a group or individually.

You can sign up using the fields below. You will be asked to write a brief description of your project of no more than 200 characters and a slightly longer version of max 1000 characters. Furthermore there is a list of other information to fill out. It is also possible to upload the actual assignment/project, but only as a supplement.

Assessment criteria

In our selection of the winner projects the four following criteria will be assessed:

  • Optimal use of the properties of plastics: the opportunities that plastics offer must be used in the creation of new solutions
  • Originality and creativity: something new must be created and we encourage you to think outside the box
  • Operationally realistic: the idea must be realistic to carry out in practice
  • High academic level: the scientific content must be at a certain level

We do not necessarily expect your project to live up to all the criteria to the fullest extent.

We will consider how far you are in getting your degree, as well as the time/credits available for the project. This means the competition is open and fair to both bachelor master theses as well as smaller semester- and project assignments.

We find the winners at Plastic Engineering Day

The winners will be announced at our great Plastic Engineering Day the 25th of October 2018 at DTU i Lyngby. Here the students behind 5 nominated projects will present their ideas and results to a panel of experts that together with the audience will select the final winner.

The Plastic Engineering Day is open to everyone and will also include talks and provide plenty of opportunities to meet the many companies of the plastics industry. If you are studying far away from Copenhagen transportation will be provided. Note that most talks during the day will be in Danish.
